4th SUNDAY LENT YEAR A

The Man Born Blind, is the story of a simple man open to God’s presence and arrogant men who cannot see the Christ standing right before them.

A tragedy greater than all others is to be blind and say that we can see. There are so many areas where we are perilously blind to the ways in which our actions, words, thoughts and desires have jeopardized our eternal salvation.

The more we do not admit our blindness the more hardened our blindness becomes.

Little has changed in the world. You go to work, to school, and the so-called intellectuals belittle you because you are a person of faith. We cannot allow others to put us down for our faith. We know what matters in life. We are reminded of the saying “seeing is believing.”  In the case of God, not seeing but believing is what is important.  That is faith.

HEAVEN

"No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love Him." - 1 Corinthians 2:9

THE WORD OF GOD

If we believe it to be so, do we open the Word of God (the Bible) and give it its due importance in our lives.

3RD SUNDAY IN LENT YEAR A

This time Jesus meets a samaritan woman at about noon near Jacob's well. He does not treat her as his enemy, as Jews did to the Samaritans, but as an equal. To her he showed kindness. Jesus saw in her not the evil things she has done in her life but rather the heroine she could become with His encouragement.

Her life is a metaphor for our own lives - often lived in deserts of alienation, sinfulness and despair. Lent invites us to join this woman of Samaria and encounter Christ, accept Him as a loving God and follow his footsteps. Never should we reject Him because he does to appear according to our preconceived notions.

The longing in our hearts is satisfied only when it has its scource  God's thirst for us.

When God is present in our lives let us abandon our water jars and like the Samaritan woman return to town and tell everyone that Jesus is the real experience in our lives.

JESUS AND MARY ARE INSEPARABLE

“If it is impossible to separate what God has united, it is also certain that you cannot find Jesus except with Mary and through Mary.” - St. Pius X

2nd SUNDAY OF LENT YEAR A

This Sunday, the second one in Lent, is called Transfiguration Sunday. It reminds us that we should listen to the Lord as He is calling us every moment in our lives.

All three readings show us that the Lord calls his servants and He wishes that they heed his invitation. Following his call our lives are transformed and we are elected as His instruments to proclaim his Kingdom.

Anything less is insufficient, inadequate and incomplete. Like the growth of a vine, we must allow the grace of Christ to direct us ,along the lattice, nurturing some parts of our lives into flowers while letting go of others.

MEANING OF THE SACRAMENT OF RECONCILIATION

THINK ABOUT IT AND MEDITATE ABOUT THE GREAT SPIRITUAL TREASURES THE CATHOLIC CHURCH HAS AT ITS DISPOSAL, THANKS TO THE INFINITE MERITS OF OUR LORD.

1ST SUNDAY LENT YEAR A

No man is exempt from temptation. It follows him until the hour of death.

However temptation will not overpower us unless we will let it do so . We shall have to fight it hard. God allows us to be tempted in order that we may show our allegiance to him. He who survives temptation is faithful to God. But he who let himself be dragged by it, shows that he is putting in danger  his eternal life.

Prayer, fasting and performing acts of charity will help us to maintain a link with God.

LOVE VERSUS HATRED

Darkness is not substituted by darkness.

Only Light can do that.

Hatred is not substituted by hatred.

Only LOVE can do that.

LENTEN PRATICES

Fasting is a virtue only when it is accompanied by conditions which render it pleasing to God. Thus it happens that it profits some and not others, because it is not undertaken by all in the same manner. - St. Francis de Sales

Lent is a time to learn to love our souls more than our bodies.

RIGHT INTENTION

Vainglory speaks thus: Yes, do all the good you

can, but publish it, so that the world may regard

you as a man of great virtue and treat you with

consideration and respect'

Fear of God answers:It is great folly to devote to

the acquisition of temporal renown that which

can obtain for you eternal glory. Endeavor to hide

your good actions, and if they appear in spite of

your efforts to conceal them it will not be

accounted vanity in you when you have no desire to display

them.

DEATH

MARY AND OUR FAITH

If we are to truly know our faith,
we need to know Mary, the Mother of God.
If we are to love our faith,
we need to love Mary Immaculate; if we are to live our faith,
we need to live under Mary’s mantle.

Fr. Donald Calloway, Marian’s of the Immaculate Conception

8th SUNDAY ORDINARY TIME YEAR A

Jesus does not deny the reality of human needs, but forbids making them the object of anxious care and, in effect, becoming their slave.

Jesus speaks loud and clear. You cannot serve God and Mammon which mean that into which man puts his trust. In today's society more often than not placing our trust in wordly things is becoming the norm and substituting God.

We recognize that we have legitimate concerns for material goods and if these are filled with insecurities let us put our trust in God, recognizing the fact that He will help us overcome them. Set your values on what is most valuable and you will find peace.

"Don't worry about tomorrow. Let tomorrow take care of itself. Seek first God's kingdom over you and his way of holiness, and all will be given you."
